Prayer of Salvation
Do you know Jesus?
Please note that the question was not “Do you know about Jesus?” There is a difference. It's possible to know all about a person and yet not really know them.
Have you ever asked Jesus to come into your life and be your personal Savior?
Our culture has taught us that if we are “good” this constitutes acceptance. So we transfer that theory over to God. “God knows I'm a good person, I don't do anything to hurt anyone else. I give to those less fortunate than myself. I go to church, pray and even read the bible. I'm alright with God.” In other words, we feel that our good deeds are salvation. But they are not!
Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father
except by me.”
You see no matter how “good” you are and how many “good deeds” you do, the bible tells us that “ we have all sinned and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23) We've all done things that are displeasing to him. We have all sinned, no one is innocent.
The bible further teaches that “the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus our Lord.” Here the bible is teaching about eternal death
and separation from God. For this reason God sent His son, Jesus to die for us. “God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” God didn't wait for us to “clean up our act” or “get good enough”, He sent his son, Jesus to die for us while we were still in our sins. When Jesus rose again,
God accepted Jesus' death as the payment for our sins.
However, you must ask Jesus to come into your heart. You cannot assume that because you do “good deeds” that this is acceptance by God. The bible says,
“If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. ” And He further guarantees that “ everyone that calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved.”
If you haven't asked Jesus to come into your heart and be your personal Savior, please don't put it off. Pray this prayer today.
“Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that I am a sinner. Please forgive me of my sins. Please come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior. I confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord and I believe in my heart that you raised Him from the dead. Because of this, I am saved in Jesus name. Amen.”
